Spring onions are eaten whole and are a fine ingredient for salads and vegetable dishes in summer. They have a delicate, spicy flavor that is less intense than ordinary onions. They can be harvested throughout the summer and are easy to grow. Onions thrive particularly well in medium-heavy, nutrient-rich soil with a good water supply. "TIP": Onions are not very competitive when young, so weeding is important in the first few weeks.
