Unlike the spring onion, the winter onion is perennial and only the leaves are harvested. The plant forms stalks with closely spaced bulbs, which sprout even earlier than chives in spring. The ever-growing greenery can be harvested almost all year round.  "TIP": The winter hedge onion can also be grown in planters (at least 10 liters).
