The 4 different types of beet - Tondo di Chioggia* (25%), Egyptian Flat Round* (25%), Burpees Golden (25%) and Forniro* (25%) - provide plenty of variety on the plate. Although the healthy tubers differ in color, shape and taste, they should be cultivated in the same way. The soil should be loose and finely crumbled and the plants need to be singled out, as each seed is a cluster of up to five seedlings. TIP: Beetroot can also be grown as balcony vegetables for fresh consumption.
