Oats have a slightly nutty flavor and can be used in a variety of ways. The grain is lightly dried in warm air to give it its aromatic flavor.

Use oats ground or rolled into flakes for warm porridge or fresh grain muesli as well as for patties or soups. Ground oats should only be used fresh, otherwise they can taste bitter. When cooked, it is suitable as a wholesome side dish or as a base for stews and casseroles.Recipe: PorridgeIngredients for 2-3 portions: 1 cup of oats, 2 cups of water, saltPreparation: Coarsely grind the oats, add twice the amount of water and bring to the boil. Once boiling, add a generous pinch of salt. Leave to simmer for approx. 15-20 minutes on the lowest setting. Remove the porridge from the heat and leave to soak for another 10 minutes. Serve savory with butter, sweeten with honey for a sweet version, mix in nuts and fresh fruit.
