Cuor d'Or di Pecora
From the pure, fresh sheep's milk of Sardinia, the Argiolas family cheeses the genuine pecorino and the world-famous cheeses of the Sardinian shepherds. In the very south of Sardinia you will find Campidano, a fertile plain with lush, grassy green pastures. In this beautiful setting lies the Argiolas family cheese dairy in the municipality of Dolianova, where two young brothers, Ennio and Eligio Argiolas, took the initiative to work with cheese in 1954. This laid the foundations for the Argiolas company. In the early years, the two brothers had no production facility at their disposal. They bought cheese from the shepherds and matured it in their own cellar. They then sold the matured cheese to wholesalers throughout Italy. A few years later, the brothers decided to invest the proceeds of their business in cheese production and rented a small dairy. In 1970, the brothers decided to set up their own dairy. For this purpose, they chose the then industrial area in Dolianova, right at the foot of the hills where the shepherds brought their grazing animals. Regular investments were made in the dairy. Antonello now follows his father and uncle. His heart's desire is for his cheese to carry the heritage of Sardinian pastoral culture out into the world.
