Dinkelflakes, demeter
The spelt flakes are produced using the traditional rolling process and are unsweetened. This is particularly gentle and results in uniquely crispy flakes. In the traditional rolling process, the grain is cooked - either with just a little salt or sweetened, e.g. with honey, depending on taste. The grain is then rolled out, dried and roasted. The flakes then have a residual moisture content of 2-4% and are particularly crispy. Extruded breakfast cereals are now more widespread and give muesli, desserts and other dishes a crunchy note with a fine nutty spelt flavor.
Delicious with milk, yoghurt and fresh fruit or processed into chocolate crossies or flaky cookies. Recipe: Chocolate crossies Chop 350 g chocolate coating (dark or milk, depending on taste) and melt in a bain-marie. Add 1 sachet of vanilla sugar and 25 g butter and stir until smooth. Remove the chocolate mixture from the heat, leave to cool slightly and carefully stir in 200 g of spelt flakes. Using small spoons, place the spelt flakes chocolate crossies on a baking tray lined with baking paper or a silicone mat and leave to set.
