Natur-Sauerteig
Baking bread yourself has many advantages: It's fun, you can let your creativity run free, you don't have to rely on the baker's opening hours and you always know exactly what you're eating. What's more, the aroma that wafts through the bakery is simply incomparable. To bake bread and rolls, a leavening agent is needed in addition to the flour.
For approx. 1.5 kg of bread, you will need approx. 1 kg of flour or mixed groats, a little salt, honey or sugar, lukewarm water and 1 bag of Fontaine natural sourdough. All ingredients should be lukewarm and the room should be neither draughty nor too cool. To make the bread dough, add the water, sugar, Fontaine natural sourdough and salt to the flour or the grist mixture one after the other and knead everything into a smooth dough. After about 15 minutes, knead the dough again briefly and place in a baking tin or on a baking tray. The baking time is about one hour. Then remove the bread from the tin, brush with water and bake for another 10 minutes at the same temperature. Leave to cool on a rack and add bread spices, linseed, roasted onions, dried tomatoes, pumpkin seeds or sesame seeds for variety. Aniseed, caraway and fennel seeds make the bread even more digestible.
